Dissolve
in the water bath the wax in the oil of turpentine; dissolve, also by
the aid of heat, the soap in the water, and
the Nankin yellow (or in
place of that any of the yellow coal-tar colors) in the alcohol. Mix the
solutions while hot and stir,
constantly until cold. The preparation is
smeared over the shoes in the usual way, rubbed with a brush until
evenly
distributed, and finally polished with an old silk or linen
cloth.
